Bernard Leach was one of the most influential figures of the craft movement in the 20th century and his pottery and home in St. lves was the centre and symbol of this movement. The project involved the restoration of the existing listed buildings and the addition of new highly refined and detailed structures to house visitor reception, workshop and gallery space. Our objective was to enhance the existing buildings, protects the natural beauty of the site, and to achieve a high level of sustainability in the use of construction materials and methods.

"The project needed to find an architectural language to merge complementary business goals into a convincing whole. It is a tribute to the sensitivity and quiet flair of the chosen architectural practice that the development of the site has taken place to meet these needs in a harmonious and convincing way." Simon Olding, Ceramic Review "An inspired restoration and a new influx of students have brought life back to the studios of the renowned potter Bernard Leach." Sophie Campbell, Telegraph
